"Principia College's Tara Edwards, a junior from Lake Forest, Calif. (El Toro), has been named the Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 6-12.

Edwards, a setter, recorded 36 digs, two blocks, seven service aces and 107 set assists in four matches played last week. She had 11 digs, three service aces, one block and 27 set assists, as well as adding nine kills in a 3-2 loss (25-20, 25-21, 18-24, 15-25, 7-15) to Franklin College (Ind.). Edwards helped lead the Panthers to a 3-2 victory versus Wilmington College (Ohio) with eight digs, one service ace and 46 set assists. She also recorded double digit digs (10) in a 3-0 loss to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
