Hay Field House

The Facility
Built in the 1960's and recently renovated, the James Howard Hay Field House is a multi-level fitness facility where Principia College hosts its volleyball and basketball games. The 18,615 square foot gymnasium has six basketball hoops, four volleyball courts and bleachers that can seat 500 people. With an LED Nevco scoreboard for both basketball and volleyball, wood floors refinished every 2-3 years, and systems to support a variety of events, this competition venue has a classic feel with modern conveniences.

Hay Fitness Center, located on the lower level of Hay Field House, provides everything needed for exercise at any level of fitness.  Amenities include spin bikes, recumbent bikes, treadmills, elliptical cross trainers, selectorized weight machines, free-weights, and a variety of other equipment.  The lower level of Hay Field House is also home to many of the Varsity Team Rooms in addition to locker rooms for guests, visiting teams, and officials.

The "Toca Studio" is a revamped racquetball court on the ground floor of Hay Field House that is designed for soccer and multi-sport training.  With synthetic turf floor, an updated bluetooth sound system, and high ceilings, the Toca Studio is an excellent space to develop individual technique and ability in many sports.

Hay Field House also houses the Athletic Administration, Hall of Fame, and many of the College's PE Classes including Circuit Training, Ballet, and Swing Dance. Alongside the "Wall of Champions" at the entrance of the building are two dance studio rooms overlooking the Fitness Center.
