Rock Island, IL- The men captured a 4th place finish at Augustana Invitational this weekend in a two day prelim/final meet Friday and Saturday.
Freshman
Tyler Loechner had a great meet swimming his way to two individual seeds in finals Friday night in the 500 free and the 200 back and also the 100 fly and 100 back on Saturday night. Loechner's 500 free captured seventh overall with 5:14.38 and in the 200 back, a third place finish, with 2:08.34. Freshman
Andy Furbush fought aggressively to secure two individual top seeds Friday- 200 IM and the 200 fly- and two more on Saturday- 400IM and 100 fly. Furbush's 200IM (2:10.32) brought him a 5th place finish, and his 200 fly (2:13.47) a 3rd place finish. Furbush's Saturday events brought two top three finishes with a 4:48.70 in the 400 IM and 56.46 for the 100 fly.
The freshmen weren't the only top finishes, as junior
Colin Clark captured 5th in the 200 back (2:14.90), 8th in the 50 free (24.30), and 7th in the 100 back (1:00.45). Junior
Will Crowley followed suit with the freshmen and secured spots in all his individual events both days. He took 6th in the 100 breast (107.97), 11th in the 100 free (53.28), and two top 8 spots in the 200 free (1:59.51), and the 100 fly (59.56).
The Panthers had a long, hard two days of tough competition, but pushed through and walked away with more than a handful of season best swims. They head back to Elsah for another week of training and then head to Chicago to take on North Central in Naperville, IL on December 12th.
