Elsah, Ill. -- On Saturday (10-30-10), the swim and dive team teamed up to duel it out in the Blue & Gold Intra-squad meet. The swim and dive team was split up into team Blue and Gold and the result of the competition was that the Blue team came out on top by four points, 107 to 103.
The first event, 200 Medley Relay, was exciting as the Gold's A relay lead the event with a time of 2:05.19 swam by
Tyler Loechner (SO), Andy Furbush (SO), Kirsty Edwards (FR), and
Laura Perry (SO). The Blue's A relay team, Brent Bennett (FR), Casey Towle (FR), Mak Thompson (SO), and
Joanna Patzwald (FR) were close behind, missing the win by about 1 second with a time of 2:06.12. For the Blue team,
Jenna Mehlenbacher (SO) received 3
rd place for the 200 Free with a 2:12.52. Also getting 3
rd place for the Blue team, Patzwald finished the 50 Free in 27.86. Blue team member Megan Vivian (FR) also swam the 50 Free and got a season best with a time of 30.33, taking about a second off her old time of 31.15. Edwards, member of the Gold team, swam a 2:45.98 in the 200 IM getting her 3
rd place. In the 100 Fly, with a time of 1:14.04, Mehlenbacher got 2
nd for the Blue team. In 1:03.41, Blue team member Thompson got 3
rd in the 100 Free. Mehlenbacher got another 2
nd for the Blue team in the 500 free with a time of 6:03.33. Blue team member Patzwald got 1
st in the 100 Breast with a great time of 1:20.34.
Both teams did great. Everyone is off to a great start after two meets. Their times on Saturday expressed that they all will accomplish great times and break more records this season. I look forward to seeing it.
Next weekend there will be no meet, we must have scared our competitors. On Saturday, November 13 at 1:00 pm, we will have a swim and dive meet against Lincoln College. Come down and support us in Crafton.
