Principia rubgy falls to St. Louis University

ELSAH, ILL -- Principia fell to Saint Louis University 55-5 last weekend, with SLU scoring nine tries. SLU is currently ranked 7th in the nation. Principia started flat and gave up three tries in the first twenty minutes. All three times, the Billikens were able to pin the Thunder Chickens inside their 22 and then use either a restart or a penalty to punch the ball through. A bright spot for Principia was at the end of the half, when they repeatedly got to SLU's five meter line but were unable to get the ball in the try zone before SLU recovered the ball off of a Principia penalty.

The second half was similar to the first, and SLU scored several tries after overloading the Principia defense and then running the ball outside. Fly half Tom Bisbee was responsible for Principia's lone try.

The Thunder Chickens next play this Saturday, away at Mizzou, at 12:00 PM.
