Women Grab a Win Against Illinois College, but Fall to Lindenwood University

Elsah, IL- In their last home meet of the season, the women had one last chance to swim well before they swim at Liberal Arts in two weeks. The Panthers were unable to take on the depth of Lindenwood's roster, but fought the best they could to try and out touch them to the walls.

Starting solid for the women, freshman Mak Thompson captured a season best and third place finish in the 200 freestyle with 2:26.21. Senior captain Jenny Bailey, yet again, swam a smooth 50 freestyle winning with a 25.55. Bailey continued her streak winning her second of two individuals in the 100 backstroke with a 1:04. 81. Junior Lexi Meidell captured a second place finish in the 200 IM, also a season best with 2:45.71. Freshman Jenna Mehlenbacher continued the winning streak and took first in the 100 freestyle with 56.60. Mehlenbacher's 2nd place finish in the 100 breaststroke puts her on the all-time top ten for the women (1:15.23).

Emily Sander continued her recent success by winning both the 1-meter (133.50) and 3-meter( 138.75) diving competitions as well as scoring season best scores on both. Freshman Carolyn Vernon took second on the 1-meter competition.

Principia hosts the Liberal Arts Championships, Thursday through Saturday, February 18-20. Nine other schools along side Principia will compete over three days of prelims and finals. The Panthers have two weeks to rest, get focused, and bring the speed they've worked up to all season. Prelims start at 10am and finals at 6pm. Come support the most anticipated meet of the season!
