Greenville takes two from Lady Panthers

This may have a familiar sound to it, but it is accurate.  Prin lost both ends of a double header to Greenville by the scores of 9-2 in 7 innings and 11-2 in 5 innings.  Part of the familiar sound though is that Prin continues to improve as there was a significant difference between game one today and the first time these two teams met back in March.  In the first match between these two teams Greenville easily mercy ruled Prin in 5 innings and actually began backing off as early as the third inning to keep the score from being very embarrassing.

Game one had a very good start to it with Prin getting quick outs in the early innings.  With two out in the bottom of the third inning and runners on first and second Greenville hit a soft infield grounder that Prin misplayed.  Instead of getting the third out and being out of the inning Greenville erupted for 4 unearned runs in the inning.  That just goes to show how one small error can get a team in trouble.  Prin answered back with a couple of runs to keep it close but a two run home run by Greenville in the 6th put the game out of reach.  Jocelyn Shoemake went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.  Jess Dunlap went 1 for 3 but the offensive star of the game was Marianna Distel who went 3 for 3 with an RBI.

Game two began with an offensive explosion by Greenville in the top of the 1st inning and before you knew it they had a 7 run lead before Prin even came to bat.  The team settled down and played fairly well after that but the 7 run lead proved too much to overcome.  Andie Raffles went 1 for 1 with 2 walks and scored 2 runs.  Jocelyn Shoemake continued her recent surge of offense going 1 for 3 and had another RBI.
