Lincoln, IL – The Gold and Blue men came away from the Lincoln College pool with a tough loss to Iowa Lakes Community College (49-67) and challenging loss to a larger Lincoln College team (16-107). In the midst of heavy training the men swam quality races demonstrating improvements in many areas and came away with some impressive early season swims.
Junior
Andy Furbush led the way with a 1
st place in the 200 Fly (2:12.27) and a 2
nd place in the 100 Fly (57.16). Fellow junior and captain
Tyler Loechner scored two 3
rd place finishes – the 200 back in a season and non-tapered best 2:04.42 and the 200 IM in 2:10.01. Freshman
Josh Harmon continues to impress in the sprints scoring two 3
rd places finishes with season best times in both the 50 (22.84) and the 100 Freestyles (50.38). The heavy training kept the men from showing their true speed but has laid the foundation for exceptional performances to grow.
The Gold and Blue will be back in action on November 19
th when they travel to Illinois Wesleyan for the IWU Invitational at 1 pm.
