Lincoln, IL – The Gold and Blue women came away from the Lincoln College pool with a split of the two dual meets. The ladies defeated Iowa Lakes Community College 52-43 and lost to Lincoln College 19-108. In the midst of heavy training the women swam quality races demonstrating improvements in many areas, but could not match the larger Lincoln squad.
Junior
Makaela Thompson led the way with a number of good swims. She swam a season best 200 Free (2:19.20) and her best non-tapered 500 Free time(6:25.41). Fellow junior
Jenna Mehlenbacher earned the top placing for the women with a 2
nd place in the 200 IM (her second of three consecutive events) in 2:32.24. Sophomore
Joanna Patzwald continued to improve her swims in both the 100 and 200 Breaststroke events and added depth in the 200 IM. Newcomers freshmen Josephine Finen and
Jessica Neal both continued their improvements. Finen swam a season best in the 50 free while Neal earned a season best in the 200 Free. The heavy training kept the women from showing their true speed but has laid the foundation for exceptional performances to grow.
The Gold and Blue will be back in action on November 19
th when they travel to Illinois Wesleyan for the IWU Invitational at 1 pm.
