Principia men’s tennis doesn’t play their game

ORLANDO, FLA. -- In the first outdoor matches of the 2011 season, Principia men's tennis plays spring break matches in Orlando, Fla.  Today the Panthers matched up against Earlham College in sunny and hot 80 degree weather.

Overall the transition to the outdoor season was not strong, with the team playing undisciplined and unfocused tennis. The Panthers started out the matches in doubles that should have been closer, losing #1 doubles 8-4, #2 doubles 8-1, and #3 doubles 8-2.

In singles Principia didn't fair much better. However, newcomer Alex Clapp played the exhibition #7 singles, he was the only player to reach the competitive threshold and win a set. He competed closely in his first collegiate outdoor match losing 2-6, 6-2, (10-4).

The Panther men will play again on Thursday afternoon against Berry College.
