Softball faces another day of tough competition

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Principia softball had another learning day facing the two toughest teams in Myrtle Beach who were above the level of their conference. The morning game was a 10-0 loss to Arcadia University of Philadelphia. Freshman Casey Lee found her control and pounded the strike zone, but Arcadia's hitters were tough and they found the gaps.

The afternoon game was a similar story in an 8-4 loss to Lycoming College of Pennsylvania. Devon Harrison turned in another stellar pitching performance at around 70% strikes, but the defense couldn't come up with the needed plays. The Panthers were down the whole game until the bottom of the order came alive to produce three runs in the sixth inning.

The Panthers finish their Myrtle Beach trip at 1-7, but well ahead of where they were last year, and much more ready for SLIAC competition in the second year of softball being reinstated.
