Men's tennis falls 0-9 to regionally ranked Carthage College

ELSAH, ILL. -- It was a tough day today for men's tennis who played regionally ranked individual players on a strong Carthage College tennis team. With only one more conference match and the SLIAC conference team championships left Principia is looking to finish strong. They are also looking to compete at a level called the competitive threshold, which is taking over half the games played from their opponent.
At #1 singles
Weston Kalogeridis as a freshman, is establishing himself as formidable opponent because of his quick serve and strong forehand. His 6-0, 6-1 loss today does not represent how well he competed.
Todd Zimmerman the only senior on the team did a good job at frustrating his opponent by keeping the ball in play and finishing off points. Todd competed at the competitive threshold taking five games from his opponent in the first set and two games in the second set.
Ben Black, Principia's #6 lost a close match, which he could have pulled out in the ten point tie breaker. He was tied six all, but lost the battle 8-10.
Kenny Sydness had the only win today at #8 singles in his eight game pro-set, exhibition match. Sydness, who has been contributing to the team as #3 doubles player, won 8-6.
The final match for Principia's 2011 regular season is this Tuesday against Fontbonne University in St. Louis at 6:30 PM. Come support the boys before they head into the post season tournament.
