BLOOMINGTON, IL – The women of the Gold and Blue visited Illinois Wesleyan for a dual meet to start off the New Year. Illinois Wesleyan used their superior depth to come out with the win 21-195. Having been back in the water for some hard training for only 4 days after a 3 week break, the women came into the meet a little tired but performed well. They showed they have regained much of their form already and are ready to keep improving.
A few of the highlights are: junior
Makaela Thompson swam to a near season best in the 200 Free to place 5
th, sophomore
Meghan Vivian, after a tough semester that kept her from competing, was back in the water racing to a 4
th place in the 50 free (29.31) and a 6
th place in the 100 free (1:06.34). Freshman
Jessica Neal took home one of the team's two individual season bests with her 1:33.42 in the 100 back. Junior
Jenna Mehlenbacher took home the other with her 29.89 50 Fly relay split in the 200 medley relay.
With another tough week of practice, the swimmers will be ready to once again earn season and lifetime bests going into our next meet. On Friday, Jan 13
th and Saturday the 14
th the women will be back in competition at Washington University-St Louis for the annual Washington University Invitational. The meet starts at 6 pm on Friday and 11 am on Saturday.
