Exciting Home Opener against Lincoln College

ELSAH, ILL. -- The Principia men had more than several season bests, a few top 10 records, and several unshaved lift time bests, however this would not be enough as the men lost to Lincoln College 120 – 62. Not only was this the first home dual meet of the season, it was also the first diving meet of the season with the 1 meter 6 dives, and 3 meter 6 dives events being held.

The meet started off with a blistering 200 yard medley relay which saw 2 season best splits and a life time best split.  Senior captain Tyler Loechner and freshman Justin Duffy each had season best splits, Loechner for his 50 backstroke split with a 26.47, and Duffy for his 50 breaststroke split with a 30.48. Sophomore Josh Harmon had life time best 50 yard butterfly split with a 23.93. The success for Harmon carried over into the 50 yard freestyle where he swam an unshaved life time best 22.15. Harmon was joined in success with sophomore Anibal Ibanez Risso who swam a season best with a 31.32. On the other side of the pool, on the diving boards, freshman Jesse Dehnert had an explosive first meet. Dehnert scored a 262.85 in the one meter six dive event, this score placed Dehnert on the top ten record sheet in second place, and just 12 points shy of the record. Returning to the racing, Harmon continued a wonderful day of success by swimming a season best in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.38. Duffy also continued a successful day of swimming in the 100 freestyle, where he swam a season best with a time of 54.73. Dehnert completed an incredibly successful day of diving by scoring a 255.10 in the three meter six dive, this score landed Dehnert third place in the top 10 record sheet. Ibanez Risso found success in the 100 breaststroke and 200 free relay where he swam a season best in both events. In the 100 breast Ibanez Risso swam a 1:28.29 and in the 200 free relay Ibanez Risso split a 31.20.
