Game 1: 13-4 loss
Prin played the number one team in the conference today and found out why Fontbonne is the team to beat. They are very good! The Gold and Blue ran into a buzz saw this afternoon and the scores reflect the difference in the two teams. Fontbonne dominated in every facet of the game. Prin started out well scoring in the 1
st inning but then struggled for the next 3 and you can't afford to struggle against Fontbonne because they make you pay. Prin scored 3 more in the 5
th but they were already down by 10 runs when that happened. Fontbonne cranked out 16 hits with 4 doubles and 1 triple while stealing 5 bases.
Offensively it was
Marina Whitney for Prin as she was the only one to get a hit and she got three, two were doubles.
Casey Lee got on base on a walk and was hit by a pitch and did score 2 runs.
Game 2: 10-0 loss
Game two was a little more competitive as Prin hung close for 5 innings but Fontbonne just wears you down with their relentless attack and they blew the game open with 5 runs in the 7
th. Prin was more consistent in this one and they did battle but in all fairness they were playing a team that was more experienced and had better players. In a longer game than game one, Prin did cut the hits down to 12 but that is still too much to overcome. The Gold and Blue players found out what excellence looks like today and hopefully they will strive to reach those levels themselves.
Marina Whitney got another double in this game to have a 4 for 5 day.
Casey Lee was 1 for 2 with another walk.
