Box Score 2 COLUMBIA, MO. --
Vs. Stephens
Game 1: 8-5 loss
The team had a rocky start giving up 2 runs in the 1
st inning on an error and 2 hits but then settled down. They got going on offense in the 3
rd when they scored 3 runs on 2 errors by Stephens and 2 hits to take a 3-2 lead. The lead didn't last long as Stephens answered with a run in the bottom of the 3
rd. This team has struggled all year with giving up a big inning and it happened again in the 4
th. They committed 3 errors, gave up 3 hits and that led to 5 runs for Stephens. This Prin team has also continued to battle in most games and they did manage to score 2 runs in the 6
th but that was it and the game ended with another loss. They only gave up 8 hits to Stephens but the 5 errors were costly.
There wasn't much offense in this game. The team only got 6 hits and it is really hard to win games with only 6 hits.
Christine Nacewicz was 2 for 4 with a runs scored and an RBI.
Casey Lee,
Thanda Kyaw,
Marina Whitney and
Jocelyn Shoemake all had a hit. Thanda's hit drove in 2 runs and she score 1 run. Marina drove in a run and Jocelyn scored a run.
Game 2: 9-1 loss in 5 innings
The Gold and Blue are struggling and are not a confident team right now. While the effort is there any mistakes they make get blown out of proportion and the team really has to fight to not get discouraged. They did start game 2 out well by loading the bases in the 1
st inning but did not get key hits and as a result only scored 1 run when they could have had a really big inning. Unfortunately errors were present and bountiful again. Prin committed 6 errors in this game and you simply can't win games giving away that many outs. Even though they only gave up 8 hits again when you add in the errors it isn't surprising that Stephens won the game easily.
There wasn't much offense again as only 4 players got hits.
Thanda Kyaw continued her resurgence as a dangerous slap hitter going 2 for 3.
Marina Whitney also was 2 for 3 and
Bekah Charlston hit a hard ground ball up the middle for her hit.
Jocelyn Shoemake has been on a roll as of late and she went 1 for 2.
