Vs. Blackburn
Game 1: 10-1 loss
Watching this game it was hard to believe it was the same team that showed so much improvement last week and the one that won two games earlier this week. This group came out unprepared and ran into a team that was prepared. Thank heavens for the mercy rule or who knows how many runs Blackburn would have scored. There wasn't much energy, certainly no urgency to get things done and there was virtually no chatter in the infield. This was an ugly one. Prin got out hit 12 to 5 and out played in every facet of the game.
Devon Harrison was 2 for 2 with a triple and a run scored.
Casey Lee,
Marianna Distel and
Bekah Charlston all had 1 hit and Casey had a stolen base.
Game 2: 8-4 loss
This was a much better game and Principia was in it until the late innings but mental mistakes did them in. They started out strong by scoring two in the 1
st inning and one more in each of the 4
th and 5
th innings. At that point it was a 5-4 game but then they shot themselves in the foot. There is a consistent theme in the team's losses and that is their inexperience. Their defense is adequate and at times very good. They show flashes of offense in many games and their pitching is strong enough to keep them in games but they just make too many mistakes because of their inexperience. They had a chance for a big inning in both the 4
th and 5
th innings but some poor choices took them out of both of those innings. Blackburn added three runs in the top of the 7
th to make it very tough for Prin to come back. They actually had 13 hits in this game but only 4 runs to show for it due to some poor base running.
Casey Lee had a great day at the plate going 3 for 4 with a triple, a run scored and another stolen base.
Thanda Kyaw and
Christine Nacewicz each had 2 hits and scored 2 runs.
Marianna Distel also had 2 hits, scored a run and had an RBI.
Devon Harrison,
Marina Whitney,
Makaela Thompson and
Shannon Naylor all had 1 hit.
