JACKSONVILLE, ILL. -- The Principia College Women's Swimming and Diving team on Saturday traveled to Illinois College for a quad meet against Illinois College, Knox College, and Millikin University.
The meet was scored as three separate dual meets. The team lost 67-132 to Illinois College, 49-143 to Knox, and 60-152 to Millikin. However, there were some fast swims on the day, including seven season bests, three unshaved lifetime bests, and two lifetime bests.
Senior Catherine Joyner, freshman Shelby Barner, Sophomore Daniel Mc Kenzie, and freshman Bailey Bischoff took fifth in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 2:14.80. Mc Kenzie had a season best 50 Fly split in the relay (28.11).
Joyner then swam the 50 Free in an unshaved lifetime best time of 34.13. Bischoff took second in the 100 Back with a season best time of 1:10.26.
Barner swam the 100 Breast in a season best time of 1:21.24, good for third place. She followed that up with another third place finish in the 50 Free with a time of 27.11.
Mc Kenzie blew the field away in the 100 Free with a time of 58.44. She was the only swimmer to go under one minute. Bischoff took second place again — this time in the 200 Back — with a great time of 2:31.67.
Principia finished up the meet with a fourth place finish in the 200 Free Relay as Bischoff, Joyner, Barner, and Mc Kenzie went 1:56.47. Mc Kenzie and Joyner both had season, unshaved, and lifetime bests for their individual relay splits.Â
The team is off next weekend and will have its first home meet of the season against Franklin College and Illinois Institute of Technology on November 23 at 2:00 PM at Crafton.
