LINCOLN, ILL. -- The Principia College Men's Swimming and Diving team on Saturday traveled to Lincoln, ILL., and beat the Lincoln Lynx 93-63. By the time the meet was over, the team had collected eight season bests and one top-10 time.
The meet started off with the 200 Medley Relay team of freshman Zacher Lewis, freshman Hunter Mehring, junior captain Josh Harmon, and freshman Nolan Saylor taking first place with a time of 1:50.13.
Lewis was back in the water in the next event, the 200 Free, where he took second place with a season best time of 2:06.84. Mehring picked up a first place and season best in the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.44. Harmon then swam his way to a first place in the 50 Free with a time of 22.33. Saylor took fourth in the 50 Free with a season best time of 26.68.
On the 3-meter diving board, sophomore Jesse Dehnert and sophomore Connor Walton took first and second, respectively. Dehnert scored 232.80 points, his season best on the 3-meter board.
Back in the water, Harmon picked up another first place in the 100 Free with a time of 50.60. Lewis took second in the 100 Back in 1:05.10, his season best.
Dehnert took first again on the 1-meter board with a score of 258.40, his season best. Walton placed second with a score of 228.25, his season best.
Mehring had a season best time of 1:02.53 in the 100 Breast and won the event by less than one second. His time of 1:02.53 earned him a spot on the top-10; it was the sixth fastest 100 Breast time in Principia history.
The meet concluded with the 200 Free Relay. Mehring, Lewis, Saylor, and Harmon teamed again and won the event with a time of 1:38.06.
The team is now 1-0 on the season and will travel to Jacksonville, ILL., on Saturday, November 9, to take on Illinois College.
