Jacksonville, IL—
The Principia Men's Tennis Team improved their record back to .500 at 4-4 with a win over Illinois College today. In cold and windy conditions, the Panthers were able to maintain their focus and execute their gameplans well in both doubles and singles.
At 1
st doubles,
Jason Wissman and
Joey Sander were able to control the net throughout their match. By closing the net, they gave their opponents little room to win any points. They were able to win 8-0. At 2
nd doubles,
Kevin Hagenlocher and
Kenny Sydness also controlled the net. By putting pressure on their opponents, they were able to force many errors and capitalize on short balls. They won the match 8-0. At 3
rd doubles,
Andrew Fields and
Andrew Rohrer played strong tennis throughout. They were able to hit solid approach shots and made very few errors. They also won by a score of 8-0.
At 1
st singles,
Jason Wissman refused to allow his opponent to get comfortable in his match. He won 6-0, 6-0. Wissman did not lose a game this entire week, as he won all four of his matches at love. At 2
nd singles,
Joey Sander also played a very efficient and effective match. He won 6-0, 6-1. At 3
rd singles,
Kevin Hagenlocher played very steady tennis, making few mistakes. He made quick work of his opponent, with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. At 4
th singles,
Andrew Fields also played steady tennis. Fields has continually improved all season and is getting more consistent each day. He won 6-0, 6-0. At 5
th singles,
Andrew Rohrer did a great job of playing both offensive and defensive tennis. By utilizing the correct tactics within his match, Rohrer was able to win 6-0, 6-1. At 6
th singles,
Kenny Sydness worked on playing more offensive tennis. Kenny worked on getting to the net, and was very effective throughout the match. He won 6-0, 6-0.
The Men's Tennis Team next plays vs. Concordia Seminary on April, 2
nd at 5:00 PM. This is a home match for the Panthers, and they would love some support.
