ELSAH, ILL. — The Principia College Men's Swimming and Diving team on Friday competed against Hendrix College. The meet included shortened versions of most races, including the 50s of each stroke and the 100 IM. The team lost 62-78.
The 200 Medley Relay team of freshman Zacher Lewis, freshman Hunter Mehring, junior co-captain Josh Harmon and sophomore Jesse Dehnert took first with a time of 1:47.02. Lewis (Back - 29.74), Mehring (Breast - 27.49), and Harmon (Fly - 23.73) all had season best splits. Harmon's 23.73 was also his lifetime best 50 Fly relay time.
Mehring (54.97) and Harmon (58.01) took first and second in the 100 IM, respectively. It was Harmon's lifetime best 100 IM swim.
The divers completed three dives each on the 1- and 3-meter diving boards. Dehnert took first with a combined 1- and 3-meter score of 236.85, while sophomore Connor Walton took second with a score of 218.65. Both Dehnert and Walton were challenged to attempt difficult dives at this meet.
Harmon continued his excellent meet in the individual 50 Fly, which he won with a lifetime best time 24.71. Mehring won the 50 Breast with a time of 27.47. Both Harmon and Mehring shined again in the 200 Free Relay — the final event of the meet. Mehring (21.35) and Harmon (21.41) both had season best splits.
