ELSAH, IL – The Principia College women's swimming and diving team earned a win in the first meet of the season. The women defeated Lincoln College 107 – 18. It was a team effort as every woman performed well and earned points for the team. They supported each other and the other team in showing a commitment to not having a single performance unsupported by a team member.
The women were led by two sophomores:
Shelby Barner and
Bailey Bischoff. Both swam to two wins. Barner earned her wins in the 100 Free (1:00.89) and the 100 Breast (1:22.58). Bischoff took first in the 200 Free (2:18.56) and 500 Free (6:23.84). Sophomore diver
Annika Erickson also earned a pair of firsts in 1-meter and 3-meter diving. Junior captain Daniel Mc Kenzie took the other first place with a win in the 50 Free (26.40). This meet, being the first meet of the season, some of the team was competing for the first time and performed very well. They have started well and can only get better from here.
It was a successful start to the season with every member contributing to the effort.
The women will compete next at the Illinois College Quad meet on Saturday, Nov 8 in Jacksonville, IL where they will take on three other schools from the region.
