Men’s Swimming and Diving Bring Home 2 Wins from the Illinois College Quad Meet

JACKSONVILL, IL – The men's swimming and diving team traveled to Illinois College for a quad meet – taking on Illinois College, Millikin University and Knox College.  The men came away with wins against Illinois College (102.5 – 79.5) and Knox College (105 – 77) but came up short against Millikin (68 – 124).  Despite being smaller than the other teams, the men competed well and earned the wins.

Senior Josh Harmon and sophomore Hunter Mehring led the way for the men.  Harmon swam to wins in the 100 Free (49.72) and 100 Fly (56.61).  Mehring earned wins in the 200 Breast (2:17.53) and 400 IM (4:35.97).  Both were part of strong relays – the 200 Medley earned second place and the 200 Free was a thrilling battle that ended with another second place.  Junior Nick Boyd showed impressive improvements as he dropped significant time both his 50 Free (28.04) and 100 Free (1:04.90) to earn season bests in both events.

Since the meet include the longer stroke and IM events, many swimmers were swimming new events or swimming the longer events for the first time.  It was an opportunity to expand their abilities and they proved up to the challenge.

The men will be back in the water on Saturday, Nov 15 when they take on Lindenwood-Belleville at home on 1 pm.
