PC softball splits with the Highlanders

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ELSAH, ILL. --

Game 1                                MacMurray – 3                                 Principia – 4

It was another solid win by Principia in game one of the doubleheader.  The defense played well and Casey Lee did a good job keeping MacMurray off balance with her pitching.  The offense put lots of balls in play and in all 6 innings of their at bats they had 1 or more runners in scoring position.  They did however struggle to come up with hits when the runners were in scoring position.  They had a big 5th inning scoring 4 runs to overcome a 3 run deficit which eventually proved to be enough to win the game.
Thanda Kyaw had a great game going 3 for 3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base.  Christine Nacewicz was right behind her going 2 for 4 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base.  Kelsey Whitney, Jessy MacMullin and Sam Bronkar all were 1 for 3 with Kelsey and Jessy scoring a run each and Sam contributing 2 RBI's

Game 2                                MacMurray                                        Principia – 0  in 6 innings

Sometimes games like this just seem to happen.  In recent games the Principia offense has been really good and they have been scoring plenty of runs.  Game two however was quite different.  Although several balls were hit hard the offense just couldn't seem to find itself and really struggled.  A couple of defensive mental lapses early led to a 4 run inning by MacMurray and with the offense just not clicking the game got away from Principia.  This appears to be a blip on the offensive screen for this team so look for them to be scoring runs again in their upcoming games.

The only hit of the game went to Thanda Kyaw who was 1 for 3
