Gorloks defeat the Panther softball team

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ELSAH, ILL. --

Game 1                                Webster – 8                                       Principia – 1

In game one the team got a solid pitching performance from Casey Lee but too many errors, both mental and physical led to Webster finally getting a big inning late in the game and putting the game out of reach.  Principia started out well in the 1st inning with runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out, but a base running mistake took the team out of the inning without scoring a run.  Right now this is a team struggling to find consistency with their offense.  Combine that with not having two key starters available to play leaving the defensive vulnerable is not a great combination.

Offensively 4 players got 1 hit each and those were, Christine Nacewicz, Jessy MacMullin, Sam Bronkar and Chelsea Chichester.  "Nac" scored the teams' only run and her hit was a double.  Jessy had a sacrifice bunt and Sam had the team's only RBI.

Game 2                                Webster – 14                                     Principia – 0

This game was all about 2 things.  First, the team continued to struggle with their offense mustering only 3 hits, and the other was more defensive errors that led to one really poor inning.  Principia did draw some walks and got runners into scoring position but just could not get a key hit to drive those base runners in.  There is no doubt that with this teams; grit they will find their offense and when all their players are able to play their defense will return to the excellent levels it showed prior to the injuries.
Three individuals got a hit in this game and they were Christine Nacewicz, Tori Cheatham and Chelsea Chichester.  Nac also had a stolen base.
