Thunder Chickens make progress in loss to Missouri S&T

Rolla, MO. -- On Saturday, the Thunder Chickens traveled to Rolla, Missouir to take on Missouri S&T, another good rival that Principia has faced each year.  The boys from Missouir S&T walked away with a 39-5 victory over Principia, but there was a lot of good progress to celebrate.

Head coach Ward Patterson recounts the experience, "Last week was a good week in several ways, but the scoreboard struggled to keep up with the progress made by the team.  Training during the week continued to see improvements in skills overall team commitment to playing at a much more intense level.  The game against our old rival MO S&T, "Rolla" was played very well for the most part, but there were moments of collapse, which provided them many opportunities for points. The scrum held well against a bigger squad, the line outs were effective and we spoiled quite a bit of their ball, the backs ran the ball with better control than in last week's game, and our overall defense held well but tackling low continued to plague our effectiveness.  The moments of our breakdowns were hard to swallow, and the lads fought back right up to the end.  Not bad at all seeing that we started EIGHT sophomores. Lots to be proud."

The Thunder Chickens will be home this weekend, they play Maryville University at 1:00.  Make sure to come out to support the team!
