Elsah, ILL. -- Principia's rugby team, the Thunder Chickens, defeated the University of Central Missouri with a score of 19-0 on Saturday.
The game started two hours before kick off and
was played in the rain, so the field was soft and sloppy. After listening to some words of wisdom from head coach
Ward Patterson, the team opted for the monotonous 'kick and charge for territory' style of play. This decision made sense, because of the weather and field conditions, and Principia was able to stay in Central Missouri's half, or quarter, most of the game. The UCM's strong defense made scoring difficult, so the Thunder Chickens resorted to kicking points. The team played hard for the whole game and worked to ensure a very good win.
The Thunder Chickens will take on Southern Illinois University Carbondale away at 1:00 pm this Saturday.
