Principia softball stumbles in Eureka doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ELSAH, ILL. -- Principia ends tough outing with two losses on the day against conference rival Eureka College.

In the first game Principia started out strong, but couldn't sustain the momentum—losing 15-2.  A calamity of self-inflicted miscues gave Eureka the upper hand. Jessy MacMullin had a strong performance at the plate going 3 for 3 .  Tayna and Yulia Marquardt each contributed a hit.

In the second game, Principia never got unwound and lost handily, 18-1.  Errors and walks were again the nemesis.  Sam Bronkar was an offense force in this one.  She got the team's only hit and it was a beauty, a line shot to left center for a triple.  She later scored on a passed ball for the lone Principia run.

Principia's record at this early juncture in the season is 3-10.  The Panthers take the field next on Tuesday at Stephens College.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
