Softball loses to second ranked Greenville College

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ELSAH, ILL. --

Game 1:  Greenville – 19          Principia – 0  in 5 innings

There is a reason SLIAC coaches choose Greenville to finish 2nd in the Conference.  They took a big step forward last season and have continued moving forward this season.  They are talented, experienced and it looks like they certainly have their eyes on taking the SLIAC crown away from Fontbonne.

Greenville just had too many weapons and too much experience for Principia to handle.  Game one was out of reach in a hurry.  Not only was their offense on fire but their pitcher threw a no-hitter as well.  They are an impressive squad.

Game 2:  Greenville – 15          Principia – 3

Principia showed some real grit in this game.  Having just been overwhelmed by an outstanding team in game one, the team could have just showed up and gone through the motions but they didn't.  While they may be short on experience they never quit and there is always plenty of effort in their games.

This game went the full 7 innings and the offense showed up again in this one with 6 players getting one or more hits.  Thanda Kyaw and Kelsey Whitney both got 2 hits in this game and true to form Kelsey got hit by 2 more pitches.  Yulia Marquardt, Jessy MacMullin, Ashley Shoemake and Tori Cheatham all got 1 hit.
