Elsah IL - The men's swimming and diving team hosted their first home meet of the season against Franklin College, Lindenwood-Belleville University and Lincoln College. Despite their loss to the other teams, (Lindenwooed Belleville 186 - 24, Lincoln college 147 - 44, Franklin College 226 - 21) the men's team has been improving steadily and we expect more progress as the season unfolds. 

The meet started strong as the men competed in the 200 Medley Relay, with a final time of 1:46.87. There were three season bests during this race. Sophomore Andrew Boyd swam the 50 Backstroke split with a 29.22. Senior captain Hunter Mehring swam a 27.47 for his 50 Breast split. Sophomore Garrett Barner swam a 25.67 for his 50 Fly split. 

Later on in the meet Boyd got a second season best in the 100 Backstroke with a 1:03.47, a significant improvement from his previous time. Freshman Liam Anderson competed in the 100 Breastroke and earned a season best with a 1:13.44. Two events later, senior Zacher Lewis earned a season best in the 50 Free with a 24.50. 

At this point in the meet, the athletes and fans made their way over to the diving well for the 1 Meter Diving portion of the meet. Freshman JC Vogt competed well in his first official collegiate diving event. After the swimming picked back up again, Anderson earned his second season best during the 200 Breastroke with a 2:48.92. 

The last event of the meet was the men's 400 Free Relay. Barner, Boyd, Anderson and Lewis competed in this event. Boyd earned another season best in his 100 Free split with a 55.13. 

The men faced some tough competition at the meet this past weekend, but they persevered and kept a high level of performance. Now the team is looking ahead to the next meet, the Illinois Wesleyan Invite on the 19th of November. The diving will begin at 10am and swimming will begin at 2pm.
