Elsah IL - The men's swimming and diving team lost to Hendrix 102 - 82. The Principia men put up a good fight and earned several season bests in the process.
The meet started out with the 100 Medley Relay. Sophomore Andrew Boyd, freshman Liam Anderson, sophomore Garrett Barner, and senior Hunter Mehring finished with a time of 49.47.
Two events later in the 50 Freestyle, Anderson earned a season best with a 25.27.
During the diving portion, freshman JC Vogt earned a season best on the 1 meter boards with a final score of 172.30.
The swimming events picked back up again. Boyd earned a season best in the 100 Free event, swimming a 55.35.
Next was the 50 Backstroke, Mehring won this event with a season best time of 25.41. Mehring also won the 50 Breaststroke, which was a few minutes later, swimming a lifetime best with a 27.34.
The swimmers went down to the diving well to cheer the divers on again for the 3 Meter Diving - 6 Dive portion of the meet. JC Vogt earned a second season best with a score of 163.45.
The swim meet ended with the 100 Free Relay, an event that is unique to this meet. Senior Zacher Lewis, sophomore Walker Hannigan, sophomore Garrett Barner, and Mehring finished with a 43.06. The Hendrix relay team DQ'd and the Principia men's relay team won that event.
Although this was a smaller meet with uniquely short events, it gave the athletes an opportunity to get back into "meet mode" in time for the Principia Panther Invitational which happened the following day.
