Thunder Chickens drop first game to Ramblers

The Principia Thunder Chickens took on the Ramblers from St. Louis, which has become a yearly tradition and results in a very friendly pre-season game.

This year the Ramblers came with some good players, and a desire to play one full, 80 minute game, rather than breaking the time up into an "A" game and a "B" game.  The game started with good intensity and passion, and the Thunder Chickens played well under the pressure.  The game progressed much better than just one week before at the scrimmage with Missouri S&T, Rolla.  The offense and defense were all working well and Principia was ahead 26 – 10 at the half time mark.  After the half time break, the coaches decided that every player would get playing time on the day, despite there being no B game.  As Principia subbed down, the Thunder Chickens struggled to maintain their defensive structure and the Ramblers scored often.  This was not a problem for the program because every player who comes to practice has an equal right to learn during this part of the season.

There were many good moments throughout the game, with clear signals of improvement made during the week of training.  The Thunder Chickens are a young team, and the results of their efforts were wonderful to see.
