Elsah, IL. -- A bittersweet night for Principia's Hearthstone teams as the B team (
Robin Grindstaff,
Michael Coburn, Trent Easton) took down Graceland University 3-1, but the A team (
Nate Richards,
Michael McClelland, Samuel Keyes) fell short against Illinois University 1-3 in their opening matches of the season.
Inside the Game:
The B team was quick to adapt to an irregular strategy and line up brought by Graceland, taking the first two games in quick succession. Graceland mounted a brief comeback in the third game off of a misread by the Panthers, but Principia quickly regrouped and rallied to finish the match in the fourth game 3-1 Principia.
The A team struggled early against Illinois State. After managing to keep the game close in game one, a misplay in game two left the Panthers down 2-0. A strong third game from Principia left hope for the reverse sweep, but Illinois was able to finish the best of 5 on the fourth game leaving the match score at 3-1 Illinois State.
