Tuesday 10/9- Elsah, ILL. -- Principia Hearthstone, in the longest match in the history of teh team, took an epic series against Louisville.
Inside the Match:
After a full two hours of back and forth gameplay, Principia's Hearthstone team (
Trent Easton, Kipp Wadsworth,
Ethan Capp) took a 3-2 win in a narrow and competitive best of five against University of Louisville. The match was back and forth, Louisville took the first game but Prin remained unfazed, answering back with a win in game two. Louisville responded and was able to eek out game three in the final moments, after Principia had held control of the game up until the moment they lost. Backs against the wall, and needing two wins in a row, Principia buckled down for what would be a 40 minute game, followed by a 20 minute game. (The average Hearthstone game lasting somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes). After an hour the team leaned back, mentally exhausted, but elated. They had remained calm and worked together beautifully to bring in their first win of the season. A win well earned.
They said it:
"What an absolute grind. Those were probably the most difficult and intense games of my life. Every turn counted and the turns just never ended. Such an awesome match and we played great, we are so psyched to get the win."
