Playing their first outdoor match of the spring season Principia panthers swept all nine matches.   Hallie Jones and Olivia Kaspyzyk, #1 doubles, finished their match with a strong poach by Hallie. With consistent returns they were able to break early and take control of the match.  Principia's #2 doubles team, Dani Lomascolo and Sarah Switzer, fell behind 1-4 before they started to get their returns and volleys into the court. They won 7 of the next 8 games to win 8-5. Amber Heady and Anais Skogerson our freshman third doubles team played well and lead the match the whole way.  They were steady with their returns and set each other up at the net.
 
Hallie Jones, #1 singles, dominated the match with her strong groundstrokes.  She was the first to finish singles matches.  Principia's #4 singles, Sarah Switzer and #6 singles Katie Christy each won their first matches as Varsity Principia athletes.  Sarah played steady in her match and had to overcome several breaks of serve.  She held off 3 set points in the second set and turned around the match to close it out 7-5.     Katie Christy was fell behind in the first set 6-5 but she broke back to tie the match at 6 all.  She then played very steady in the tie-breaker and took a 4-0 lead. She closed out the first set tie-breaker 7-3 and then she rolled through the second set 6-1.  Olivia Kasprzyk, #3 singles, Dani Lomascolo, #4 singles, and Amber Heady, #5 singles each won their match.  Complete scores are below.
 
The Panthers are 2-1 in conference play and look forward to their next match on Monday at Greenville.  It will be a good test of their progress.
