National Power Wash U too much for Men’s Tennis

St. Louis, MO. -- The Panthers visited St. Louis on Monday to take on the #6 ranked team in the nation, Washington University. Wyatt Dale and Greg Sovie stayed with the #3 doubles team in the central region, trailing 5-4 before getting broken late. Brody Swan and Daniel Gomez played their best doubles of the season on court three, though the Bears' depth was too much.

Gomez, now ranked #20 in the region, faced the #17 player in the central and started hot with a quick first-set win. Wash U turned up the pressure in the second to force a tiebreak where Gomez ultimately fell. The Panthers' other best result came at 3rd singles, where Sovie was actually last to finish. He turned an uneven first set around and nearly won the second before a late break ended it.

The team's biggest conference test comes tomorrow against Greenville when they defend their five consecutive SLIAC championships.
