St. Louis, MO. -- The Panthers visited St. Louis on Monday to take on the #6 ranked team in the nation, Washington University.
Wyatt Dale and
Greg Sovie stayed with the #3 doubles team in the central region, trailing 5-4 before getting broken late.
Brody Swan and
Daniel Gomez played their best doubles of the season on court three, though the Bears' depth was too much.
Gomez, now ranked #20 in the region, faced the #17 player in the central and started hot with a quick first-set win. Wash U turned up the pressure in the second to force a tiebreak where Gomez ultimately fell. The Panthers' other best result came at 3
rd singles, where Sovie was actually last to finish. He turned an uneven first set around and nearly won the second before a late break ended it.
The team's biggest conference test comes tomorrow against Greenville when they defend their five consecutive SLIAC championships.
