Panthers Float by Webster

Webster Groves, MO. -- The Panthers traveled to St. Louis on Tuesday for their first conference action of the season against Webster University. Doubles play was relatively uneventful, though the Gorloks were able to push Greg Sovie and Wyatt Dale to an 8-4 result at the top spot.

In singles it was a race to finish first that Nat Kenworthy ran away with after only giving up a game. Jules Kitchingman pulled off a ridiculous finish on a match point after scrambling across the court to dig out multiple balls in a row. Brody Swan hit great cross-court forehands at 6th singles, and Sovie ground the Gorloks down from the baseline and volleyed them off the court at net. Not to be forgotten, Dale smacked his massive forehand all over court two.

Dan Wagstaff and Peter Griswold also took care of business with routine victories at the seventh and eighth spots, and so receive a special feature in this recap only because they won.

Daniel Gomez had a routine tune-up match against Webster's solid number one, and he now prepares to face the top player in the central region when the team travels to WashU on Monday.
