ELSAH, IL - The Principia Women's Tennis team hosted McKendree University for a Friday evening match. McKendree is a NCAA Division II team, so the Panthers knew they were going to be tested, but they entered the match with a fighting spirit.
Although most of the match scores were not close, it is not indicative of the good play by the entire lineup. The doubles teams were practicing a new pattern, which they did well. Our #1,
Camila Gomez, played a great match and only fell short by a few points. Both sets were close, with the second going to a tie-breaker.
Coach Carney commented afterwards: "This was a tough match for all members of the team, but each player had a plan going in, and they felt they were progressing on their goals. I saw progress as the players were successful in executing plays that we are developing."
Up Next: The Panthers have two away matches this coming week. On Tuesday, April 5, they will play at Wash U, who is ranked fourth in the central region. Then on Friday, April 8, the team travels to Illinois College.
