ELSAH, IL – After a long season of non-conference matches, the Principia Women's Tennis team finally kicked off their conference schedule by defeating the Westminster College Blue Jays in Hexberg on Saturday morning.
Westminster only has four players, so Principia began the match with a 3-0 lead. The Panthers swept all the doubles with out giving up a game. They played with precision, hitting returns down the line along with accurate serves.
In the singles matches, the teams played single 8 game sets like in doubles due to the extreme mismatch. While all four matches ended 8-0 in favor of the Panthers, both Kelsie Huss (#3 singles) and Veronica Volkart (#4 singles) demonstrated laser focus and won their matches without giving up a single point.
Up Next: Principia continues their conference schedule on Monday with an away match at Greenville at 5:00 pm. It will be a test of the team's progress after losing the conference championship to Greenville last year. Senior Day will be Tuesday, Arpil 11th with a celebration for captain Kelsie Huss playing in her last home match.
