Senior Year (2011)
A note from Jasmine: "I’m from the small but beautiful state of Rhode Island. I spent the summer back home visiting with friends, relaxing on the beach, playing tennis, and working. I am currently completing my senior year as an Education and Sociology major. I’m student teaching in a kindergarten class of nineteen at South Roxana Elementary school and loving it! This is my third year playing varsity tennis at Principia, and I am really looking forward to another great season with the team. Tennis is something that I love because I know there is always something new to learn that will improve my game. I love getting out on the court and playing because it such a great workout, and a really fun way to express yourself. I have learned that the simplest part of the game is to keep the ball in play and let your opponent make the first mistake, which is something I am still working on. Like anything I am passionate about, tennis requires an open mind and love of the game. Here at Principia I have found such great support both on and off the court from Christian Science. A simple daily thought that coach, or one of the girls shares at practice or before a match brings focus and inspiration to the game for me. It has been great getting to know the new girls on the team and practicing hard with the players who all bring such strong personality to the team. Can’t wait for this season to begin!"
Junior Year (2010)
Jasmine could easily be considered the most improved upon the team. After a year of playing JV, she quickly made the transition to Varsity and was an asset in the #5 and #6 positions. Her strong serve and heavy topspin allows her to push her opponents around on the court. Jasmine's competitive nature drives her after every ball and pushes her to focus well in both practices as well as in matches. Jasmine will join Courtney in the winter on the Hawaii field program and will likely come back with a love of Hawaiian culture. Aloha, Jasmine, we will miss you during the chilly Elsah winter.
Sophomore Year (2009)
Jasmine makes the step up to varsity this year after narrowly missing the opportunity to compete last year. With a year of practice at the JV level, Jasmine is ready to be a viable member of the varsity team. Her energy is great and as she is able to channel that energy in to good mental focus, Jasmine has the opportunity to find a spot in the starting line-up.
