When did you start in the sport, and how did that happen? I started my sophomore year of high school after a close upperclassman and my volleyball/throwing coach convinced me that throwing would be something that I would be good at and enjoy.
What do you enjoy most about the sport of track and field?I love that track and field is an individual sport. It is just you against a time, height, or distance. I like taking responsibility for my training and my throws in competition. For me it is the way I can best express infinite strength, perseverance, and discipline. That being said we still have a team atmosphere. Everyone is working hard daily but in very different ways. We support each other and cheer one another on when our events don’t require our entire attention. I never get bored with track and field because there are so many different events to learn about and to watch.
Working with the Principia College track and field program is incredible. We have coaches who work to better not only their athletes but their own knowledge and understanding of coaching track and field. We have a group of very motivated students who are all pushing themselves academically, athletically, socially, and spiritually. My favorite part of being on the Principia College track and field team is being inspired daily by my teammates and coaches and still laughing and having a good time in and out of practice.
