2016 Women's Tennis Roster
Biography
Junior Year (2016)
Claire is always ready to play and work hard. Her game improves each time she’s out on the court. Last year, she was a strong #4 for us and had a perfect record in SLIAC singles competition. She is working this year to improve her offensive game and her volleys. She brings her soccer defense skills to the tennis court as well as her stamina for long games. She will run down and return balls forever! When she does venture to net she has a strong overhead. Claire is a fantastic teammate always ready to encourage and support. She is tender steel both on and off the court.
Sophomore Year (2015)
Claire is a newer tennis player. She played a little bit in high school, but her main sport is soccer. Whether it is on the soccer field or the tennis court, she is a fighter. Claire wants to compete and win matches, which is just one reason we are happy she joined us this season. She is not afraid of being at the net and taking volleys and she has a nice, consistent forehand. Claire’s lightheartedness, yet determination will certainly be an asset to this year’s team.
Fun Facts:
When did you start playing tennis and why?
I started playing tennis around my senior year of high-school. I woke up one day and decided that I wanted to try tennis. I played a few times and really enjoyed it and wanted to become better at it so I signed up for it at school. I always regret not playing earlier and more competitively.
What do you love most about playing tennis?
I love chasing down balls and the movement on the court! It also has a mentally tough but lighthearted nature to it which I really appreciate it.
