2017 Women's Tennis Roster
Biography
Senior Year (2017)
Last season Caitlin showed us her true competitive spirit and her fearlessness, as she stepped up to play #1 doubles with Paige Cooley. During her doubles play, Caitlin learned how to stay calm and focused during pivotal points, which she was then able to apply in her singles matches. After playing on the team for three years, Caitlin understands how to set up points, and we are excited to see how her season progresses. She is comfortable hitting groundstrokes forever, but this year we plan on improving her anticipation, and look for her to take more shots out of the air in order to take time away from her opponent. She will continue in her role as Captain.
Junior Year (2016)
Caitlin’s strong game execution at the end of last season is the launching pad for this year’s success. We are happy to announce that she has accepted the leadership and responsibility of co-captain. She is improving her technical skills but is also becoming a student of the game and has clearer strategic goals. She will be challenged by stronger competition as she moves up to first doubles this year. She brings a feisty competitive spirit to the court but balances it with a lot of heart and love for her fellow teammates.
Sophomore Year (2015)
Caitlin has a newfound understanding of more advanced tennis strategy as she heads into her sophomore tennis season. She has discovered her new favorite shot and plans to build its consistency by practicing quick, active feet. Caitlin looks forward to being a leader on this year’s team, as she loves welcoming new players and continuing relationships with former players. She brings the joy and spontaneity to every practice and was voted “Most Fun” by her teammates last year.
Freshman Year (2014)
Caitlin brings her mighty, competitive spirit to this year’s team. Although new to the game of tennis, she did play #4 singles last year on the Principia Upper School tennis team and maintained a winning record. This year she is working to increase her understanding of tennis strategy and to improve the direction and depth on all her strokes. She brings exuberance and joy to the team and is ready to push herself and her teammates to improve. She is certainly the loudest on the team and can be heard cheering herself and her teammates.
Fun Facts:
1) When did you start playing tennis and why?
When we were planning to move to Principia six and a half years ago, my mom looked at me in the car one day and said "you're playing tennis at Principia" :)
2) What do you love most about playing tennis?
I am an extremely competitive individual. Tennis, like other sports, usually comes down to who wants it more. The matches where you can overcome your negative mental talk, and pull out the win are the most rewarding.
