Biography
2019-20 Season
Katie is a senior from Long Beach, CA and this is her 4th year on the team. This year Katie will be participating on the JV team for various reasons but is still excited to be with the team and contribute as much as she can. She loves to swim long distance events and hopes to swim in a couple home meets during this season. Katie loves being a part of such a loving inclusive team and is excited to see what the season holds!Â
2018-19 Season
Katie Lovegren is a junior from Long Beach, California and this is her third year on the team. She primarily swims long distance freestyle and the occasional butterfly for relays. Katie is excited to take on a leadership position as captain and is excited to contribute to an atmosphere of love and fun with a much bigger team this year.
2017-18 Season
Katie Lovegren is a sophomore from Long Beach, California. She is majoring in Education with a minor in Religion. She is so excited to begin her second season on the team. Katie focuses on the distance events: Â the 500, 1000 and the mile this season. She loves being a part of the team because of all the support that is shown in and out of the pool, and the team dinners. Last year she saw progress in all events and is excited to keep growing and improving more in the seasons to come!
2016-17 Season
Katie Lovegren is from Long Beach California and is a freshman this year. She swam for 2 years in high school and hopes to complete 4 years of swimming at the college. In high school she primarily swam the 200 and 500 freestyle and 400 free relay. This season she is looking forward to making many fun memories with the people on the team and beating some of her high school personal bests.Â
1) When did you start swimming or diving and why?
I began swimming competitively when I was a junior in high school, but I grew up swimming all the time, so it was a natural fit.
2) What do you love most about swimming or diving?
I love the team aspect of swimming. As much as swimming is an individual sport, you are always swimming for your teammates and I think that’s really rewarding.
