2018 Men's Cross Country Roster
Biography
Senior (2018)
Treading into his senior year, Drew Shotwell is taking a last go at running cross country, while working hard to complete capstones for both his degrees in Mathematics and Philosophy. Off the course, Drew is a bibliophile, logophile, notebook-writer, puzzle-solver, aesthete, and friend. This year, he is serving as Buck House President, complementing his time throughout college as a member of student government. His commitment to running, hiking, cycling, and other such activities can’t be separated from the whole of his life, and gratefully welcomes another formidable opportunity to step boldly with his teammates outside his comfort zone and give all that he can.
1.) When did you start running cross country and why? I started running Cross Country the fall of my Sophomore year at Principia College, because I had a suspicion I was being deprived of a more wholistic notion of running. It’s not without saying that that broader and higher ideal has been in part realize and cherished since then.
2.)Â What do you love most about running cross country?
That the sport is more team-oriented than most team sports, while never compromising the autonomy of any one member. That cross country runners, almost without fail, will develop a culture in which striving to the very limits of what might be reasonably possible can be achieved.
