Biography

Senior Year (2020-21)
Elliott is a fiery competitor and demands a lot of himself. One of the most admirable things about "Mom" is his work-ethic. Elliott is also the Student Body Vice President on campus, and gives much of his time and energy to the student base of Principia College. Elliott remains an asset to the team on many levels and will offer numerous benefits both on and off the court. On the player roster, Elliott will mainly contribute in singles.

Junior Year (2019-20)
Elliott remains the most responsible presence on the team and an excellent source of humor. This is his first season in the starting lineup, and now as an upperclassman with previous experience on great teams, he is ready to contribute at 3rd doubles and 6th singles. Elliott will help lead the greatly feared "MVG" onto the doubles court this season, and is widely expected to have the most financially successful future. His most famous quote is, "Serving is like leg day. You look bad if you don't do it and it's something you avoid." Elliott claims to have a cousin who has flown the space shuttle, in addition to himself attending a high school with three quarters of its windows removed.

Sophomore Year (2018-19)
Elliott is one of the most loveable players on the squad. There is nothing he won’t do for the team and his team mates. He has earned the nickname of “Mom” from his peers on the team simply because of his caring nature and willingness to do anything the team needs to be their best, including getting certified to drive the team bus if he is ever needed. “Math” is also a nickname because Elliott is great at mathematics, takes his role on the team very conscientiously, and wants to push his teammates in practice as well as himself wherever he can. His heart, desire to grow as an athlete, and thoughtful ways endear him to the team. Elliott has already contributed this year in match play and will for the most part of the season enjoy competing in exhibition matches whenever possible.

Freshman Year (2017-18)
Elliott joins the Panthers from Indianapolis Indiana. Matthiesen played high school tennis in his home state of Roxbury, New Jersey prior to his recent family’s move. He brings an admirable attitude of commitment and dedication to the team. Seen as a future contributor to the roster, Elliott may see some exhibition play this season.  He knows that his role this season is to push himself to continue developing as a player, to compete hard against his teammates in practice, and to be ready if ever called upon to compete.
