In his free time, Dean enjoys anything in the outdoors: hiking, biking, scuba diving, whitewater rafting, to name a few. He is a level one certified coach for USA Weightlifting, and will acquire his level one USA Track and Field coaching certification this summer. What do you love about the Track and Field team?
This team is like no other. I love how we are united under one common goal of striving to know ourselves better through God. I enjoy the invigorating atmosphere in our workouts, and love having good friends to run with every day.

What do you want to accomplish as an athlete?
As an athlete, I am on a journey to uncovering my true, God-given potential to compete in a sport I adore. I have made immense progress in Track and Field since I began over four years ago, and I cannot wait to see what this season has in store for me.

How do you balance athletics with academics?
Leading an organized life is essential to success. Plan out your day, be prepared for the unexpected, know what you want to accomplish, and be efficient. Most of all, get it done. Academics always comes first, but I highly prioritize Track and Field in my life. I love this quote from Schwarzenegger:

While you're out there partying, horsing around, someone out there at the same time is working hard. Someone is getting smarter and someone is winning. Just remember that.”

— Arnold Schwarzenegger
