Senior (2017)
Zachary Matthiesen is a senior who is looking forward to another great season with the Principia College Cross Country team. Along with running cross country, Zachary runs the 1500 meter and the mile in Indoor and Outdoor Track. Zachary's hobbies include snowboarding and mountain biking. Zachary lives in Indianapolis, Indiana with his parents and younger brother. He is completing his major in Computer Science. Zachary loves to run the cross country course across the street from the College at North Farm, and the 1,000 meter "bricks" course behind the athletic fields.

Junior (2016)
Zachary Matthiesen, also known as Zach around campus, is a junior who is looking forward to his third year running for the Principia College Cross Country team. Zach ran cross country in high school and is excited to strive for improvement over the next five seasons. When not at Principia, Zach resides in New Jersey with his mother, father, and younger brother. He is a prospective computer science major, and rides his mountain bike as a hobby. Zach is eagerly awaiting travel to away meets and Nationals.

Freshman (2014)
Zachary grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois and moved to New Jersy in the middle of second grade year.  He later ran XC and Track all four years of high school while attending Roxbury High School.  In the future, he plans to become a better long distance runner.  As he progresses through college, he will be attempting a computer science major and a possible math minor.  His favorite actives include running, eating, and sleeping. Zachary's favorite activities include snowboarding and mountain biking. He plans to major in computer science.  Although Zachary has only been running for four years, he plans to have a great experience in college XC due to the excellent coaches at Principia.  If Zachary could be any construction material, he would be a cinderblock, because of his expressions of Principle and Spirt, which are the foundation of his being.  Zachary was nicknamed Zach because of a name tag spelling error.

1.) When did you start running Cross Country and why?
I started running cross country my freshman year of high-school.

2.) What do you love most about running Cross Country?
I love the team fellowship and the opportunity to compete in a sport with the fewest possible distractions.
