The Principia women’s basketball team played Knox College, of who fielded a team of significant depth. It became apparent that Knox intended to use this to there advantage when they started the game in full court press. However, Principia did keep it close for the first 12 minutes of the ball game with a great inside game from sophomore

Sarah Corbitt. The Lady Panthers needed all seven of their players with Knox subbing in platoon style with fresh legs.
Freshmen Dani Carney came off the bench to score six points, scored by two baseline jumpers and a fast break layup. With about eight minutes left to go in the first half, Principia allowed the press to deter their passing decisions, which led to a stretch of easy baskets for Knox College. At the half, Principia found themselves down by twenty. With the start of the second half, Principia was determined to keep fighting. Despite the physical play from Knox, the Lady Panthers were able to cut the lead to within 16 points with eleven minutes left in regulation.
Junior Captains Emily Wheeler and Dani Corbitt were key to Principia’s ability to breaking the press cultivated by their patience and resilience. Playing the entire game and shooting 5 for 9 from behind the arc, freshmen
Sarah Corbitt showed how she truly is relentless competitor. Sarah added a free throw to led the team with 16 points.
Lindsay Sydness completed her second consecutive double-double ending the night with 11 rebounds and 14 points, not to mention her second game of 7 blocks. Making the most of her minutes,
Jocelyn Shoemake came into the game, grabbing a huge rebound and knocked down both of her free throw attempts. Despite receiving three fouls in the first half, freshmen
Shannon Briggs played smart, yet still aggressive defense, without committing another foul in the second half. Nearing the end of the game, Principia failed to consistently convert on the offensive end while Knox maintained their momentum, ending the game 81-47.
