Both teams struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the very beginning stages of the game, as the score stood at 1-0 from a
Sarah Corbitt free-throw for nearly 4 minutes. The Lady Panthers made a definitive decision to love every moment of play, regardless of the score. Prin did not score again until junior Emily Wheeler hit a three pointer and was fouled which resulted in a four-point play. This was the beginning of the Lady Panthers phenomenal ball movement on offense. Sophomore
Lindsay Sydness, aka “Syd” got a steal and went coast to coast for a lay-up and was called to the line for a Stephens' foul, resulting in Syd hitting both free throws.
In the last 1:16 of the first half we scored six points off a pass from freshmen
Shannon Briggs to Syd for an easy two; and each Sarah and Dani Corbitt contributed a basket each for two. At the half, Principia led 22-18.
Stephens was not slow to tie the score and pulled ahead within the first five minutes by a mere four points. Principia did their best to remain in contention, but came up a little short on their shots and missed opportunities to stop their driving to the hoop for an easy score. Stephens' outside shots were very limited as they only had one three-pointer. Both teams battled it out in the first eight minutes of play during the second half, but unfortunately Principia only scored 4 points in the twelve minutes left of regulation.
